In a column for The Saratogian, Steve Amedio writes about the need for more forward momentum after American Pharoah's Triple Crown victory, both for the industry as a whole and for Saratoga Race Course.

Amedio writes that American Pharoah has “Star Power” and that racing needs the colt to continue running. Additionally, Saratoga would benefit greatly from having the Triple Crown winner run in one of its premier races this summer.

The writer recalls the famous rematches between Affirmed and Alydar in the Jim Dandy and Travers Stakes at Saratoga, hooking up for stretch duels even after their Triple Crown battles had cemented their names into history.

“Racing needs a boost. It needs American Pharoah to come to Saratoga and, by then, for a legitimate rival to emerge,” wrote Amedio.
